this whole discussion is a bunch of hockey puck

To "He's Live":

You know, maybe I should have checked a little more & I would have seen that this had been posted previously & that it was the record label's doing. But you know what else...it is still unbelievable that label's are living in the 1980's with no idea how to leverage intellectual property rights in the current age of digital reproduction.

In no way would I argue that we, as fans, deserve anything for free from the band or the label. They deserve to get paid for what they created. However, it seems foolish for the label, by overvaluing a single mp3, to act as if everything isn't out there for free to anyone who wants it. Every official recording of theirs and soundboards of every one of their concerts are easily available to anyone who wants them. Not to mention the existence of thousands of music blogs that post mp3's from every genre of music without asking permission. I have no idea what the solution is but I don't think it involves doubling-down on outdated business models.

And by the way, "He's Live", I can't imagine what about my post got your panties in a bunch. I couldn't care less about the specifics of whether that particular blog was able to post a particular song, but I find it interesting (and frustrating) to see corporations unable or unwilling to accept the marketplace in which they exist. Maybe I wasn't clear on why I posted the story, maybe you just wanted another excuse to exercise your love of using all caps to APPEAR witty and stake your claim as big man on the board.

p.s. I have not posted here before.

oh, now you're gonna be thoughtful and write paragraphs?

what do you expect with the subject heading you chose? "unbelievable dick move" -- it's just kinda crass and annoying and then i click on your post and it's about this same boring non-story.

and frankly, my panties are always in a bunch -- your post just made me feel kind of itchy.

.... and ok, fine Bigfoot, you ain't Tito.....
